Desenzano Japanese Ramen Shop Design

Desenzano Japanese Ramen Shop Design

A ramen shop concept centered on manga-driven storytelling and strong identity devices, organised through saturated red structures, illustrated ceilings and a vintage carriage reference.

“Design is not about filling space, but about leaving perceptible clarity between function, circulation and atmosphere.”

The scheme compresses dining, queuing and photo moments into a clear spatial narrative. Saturated red frames, illustrated ceilings and carriage-like interfaces build a ramen setting that is easy to remember.

The atmosphere is louder, but the service logic stays legible, making it suitable for high-turnover dining and strong brand presence.

  • Program

    Interior

This interior project in Desenzano, Italy focuses on the relationship between arrival, service flow and the main stay areas.

  • Light

    Ambient

Lighting is treated as a structural tool for circulation and atmosphere, avoiding decoration while strengthening the sense of stay.

A spatial narrative in the original image ratios

A green vintage carriage sits parked deep inside the dining room, and a cherry tree opens in pink beside the full-height glazing. The shop tells the story of a Japanese street market moved indoors — guests walk into a manga panel from the moment they enter.

A saturated red timber frame carries the ceiling, its grid lined edge to edge with ukiyo-e and manga prints. Light comes from paper lanterns and backlit shoji screens, with each wooden menu plaque lit individually, concentrating brightness on the counter and tabletops.

Open tables, carriage booths and barrel-top standing tables are zoned along one straight aisle. The open kitchen sits at the end of the route, keeping delivery runs short and turnover fast, while the carriage and the figurine wall drive photo-led word of mouth.
